Disney’s Polynesian Resort is 48 years old, but You would never know it. This resort was one of the original two, the other is the Contemporary. Now there are these two plus the Grand Floridian on the Magic Kingdom Monorail line. If You are serious about the ultimate vacation that starts and stops with the Magic Kingdom, pick one of these three. From the Polynesian You are only two stops away by monorail to the magic Kingdom or one water taxi ride out the back of the resort. These three resorts are destination resorts and You would never have to go beyond the monorail line to have a vacation of a lifetime.

The Polynesian Resort is themed in Tahitian decor and rainforest. Almost everywhere You go indoors and outdoors, You will hear running waterfalls. The 847 rooms at the Polynesian were all updated in 2013 and will stay updated long before Anyone notices that it is needed. The resort sits on the south side of the Seven Seas Lagoon and its shoreline is covered in pristine white sand. The lobby is an atrium that has a center piece that is a small sample of a rainforest, complete with waterfall. The gift shop is a trading post in that same theme. Restaurants follow the same Tahitian theme but You can get traditional American food at each of them. There is a casual restaurant that has indoor and outdoor seating near the swimming pool that offers Adult and Kids choices at very reasonable prices. There are plenty of choices for beers and cocktails in the lobby and at poolside. You can easily take a day off the theme parks and spend it at the lobby, pool and beach, everything You need is here.
Even though the most convenient park is The Magic Kingdom, it is easy to reach the others. To get to Epcot You can take a monorail from the Magic Kingdom or the Transportation and Ticket Center. To get to Hollywood studios, You can do so by going through Epcot and taking a water taxi. Animal Kingdom can be reached via bus in the front of Your resort.
Boardwalk Inn at Disney’s Boardwalk is probably the most popular deluxe resort in the Disney family. Being on the Boardwalk has a lot to do with that but the luxury that comes with it is probably more desirable.

The theme is 1940’s boardwalk from Atlantic City, NJ. The architecture for this theme is spot on as You would expect from Disney. The wooden boardwalk is very much like the 1940’s boardwalk except You will not trip from uneven boards. Disney has made this a replica but with modern safety and comfort. The Clown Slide at the pool is from the rides at the New Jersey boardwalk and looks like it came out of an old magazine.
The Resort is most convenient to Epcot and secondly to Hollywood Studios but the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom can be reached easily by Disney Buses that arrive every 10 – 20 minutes out the front of the Resort. You can also reach the Magic Kingdom by monorail by going through Epcot.
The Resort has so many options for entertainment some guest stay here and never visit the theme parks. The Boardwalk has surrey bikes, pontoon boats that You can rent. The boardwalk also has shopping, fine and casual dining, entertainment including carnival games. Every age guest has something that interest them. Dad can slip away for a ball game at the ESPN Club where He will find countless TV’s, a full menu and a full bar as well as an arcade. Dancing till the wee hours of the night or quiet intimate piano bars, You can find every possible venue here. Many restaurants are visited by locals all over Orlando.
This resort was opened in July of 1996, at 24 years old, You would never know it but as You might expect, Disney keeps this resort in perfect condition so that it looks as if it was just built.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is one of three Resorts on the Magic Kingdom Resorts Monorail line. The Grand Floridian is also located on the Seven Seas Lagoon and boost the best wedding Chapel at Disney. Originally, Disney opened with The Contemporary and The Polynesian on the Magic Kingdom monorail line in 1971, then added the Grand Floridian Beach Resort which is now Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in 1988. The resort has 867 rooms and is in the Disney Deluxe category. The Resort has a Victorian theme and is heavily decorated in white colors. The main swimming pool renovation was completed in 2013 and features zero entry and water features that change colors at night. The new pool has a full bar at poolside. Just a few minutes walk from the main pool is another pool that is smaller but has a large poolside bar. Disney always welcomes families to all its resorts but this one seems to cater just a little more to adults than the other two Magic Kingdom Monorail resorts.
This resort is part of Florida Green Lodging Program after meeting or exceeding criteria that reduces electrical demands and use of recycled materials.

It is very easy to get to the Magic Kingdom from this resort and most People that stay here do so for that reason. You can take a water taxi from the back of the hotel or take the Monorail out the front of the hotel. The Magic Kingdom is the first stop going to the Magic Kingdom, but returning to Your Resort is faster by water taxi since You are the forth stop on the monorail that travels clockwise around the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Each afternoon and into the night a very talented band plays the big band tunes from the blaconey over looking the atrium lobby. Sit back and relax and remember the days when music was actually played with real instruments.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort, onsite Disney Deluxe Hotel
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of the 1971 original Resorts. This one has a monorail that runs through the middle of it. And although it is 48 years old, it is still one of the modern marvels of the world. When it was built, very few hotels had atrium’s and very few have atrium’s this size today. Disney has kept this resort modern by remodeling extremely often, recently the “Top of the World” restaurant was completely redone and provides a look over the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Magic Kingdom.
The swimming pool is one of the best in the Disney line, the kids love the spiral slide and center water feature. Rent a boat right out the back of the hotel or just take a free boat ride to Ft Wilderness Campground.
The resort consist of the A-Frame main building, garden rooms that surround the pool and Bay Lake and the newest addition Bay Lake Tower (2009). The Bay Lake Tower rooms are individually owned on the Disney Vacation Club program but can be rented just the same as the other rooms but they come at a higher price.
To stay here is the ultimate vacation, everything is at Your finger tips. You can dine casual or upscale and at Chef Mickey’s You will get to meet Mickey Himself at the Character Breakfast. The Top of the World is the ultimate romantic spot for watching the fireworks or having cocktails and fine dining. Baby Sitting service is available at this resort and Kids activities are offered throughout the day.
Most guest that choose this hotel do so to be close to the Magic Kingdom. But one thing that many guest never find out is that You can walk to the Magic Kingdom in 10 minutes, no need to wait on the monorail or water taxi. This is especially important to remember when You are leaving right after a parade or fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom, the monorail lines can be extremely long. To get to other parks, You can take a bus out the front door. Or take the monorail at the transportation center or Magic Kingdom to get to Epcot. To get to Hollywood Studios, You can do that via Epcot, its just a boat ride away from there. Animal Kingdom should be reached by Bus.
